New management structure at South Ayrshire Council
South Ayrshire Council has announced the appointment of six new Heads of Service and the vacancies of a further six posts, as the Council carries out changes in the way its services are delivered.
Councillor Hugh Hunter, the Leader of the Council (pictured above) said: “The efficient delivery of our services to South Ayrshire’s residents and visitors is at the core of what we do, and it is important that we have the right team in place to achieve this.
“The new Corporate Management Team have a great vision for the future, and the whole Council is fully committed to supporting necessary changes."
South Ayrshire Council chief executive David Anderson (pictured above) said: “I am delighted to make these appointments, and we will now be seeking to fill six additional posts. Our Heads of Service posts are very important senior positions in the Council, and we have been able to find extremely talented individuals to take on these challenging jobs.”
David Anderson is continually striving to improve the services delivered to residents in South Ayrshire. As part of this ongoing commitment the Heads of Service posts have been reconfigured and the remits for each one modernised.
The following Heads of Service have been appointed:
Roddy MacDonald : Head of Community Development
Brian McInroy : Head of Service and School Management
Dan Russell : Head of Legal and Administration
Margo Williamson : Head of Curriculum and Service Improvement
Angela Wilson : Head of HR and Organisational Development
Ian Woodburn : Head of Customer and Community Services
David Anderson, who was appointed as chief executive in May last year is leading a programme of efficiency and modernisation within all departments of the Council.
Commenting on the changes David Anderson said: “I would like to congratulate each of the successful Heads of Service on their appointment.
“These employees are all highly skilled, established enthusiastic, energetic and committed to following the vision that the Council has. They will be invaluable in helping the Corporate Management Team to drive forward changes within the Council that will see it develop as a more innovative and creative organisation.
“Each of the new Heads of Service will be crucial in leading other employees, and in driving forward, directing and supporting the strategic delivery of services to people in South Ayrshire.”
The new operational structure within the Council now has six vacant Heads of Service posts, which are as follows:
Head of Corporate Resources.
Head of Planning and Enterprise.
Head of Property and Neighbourhood Services.
Head of Community Care and Housing.
Head of Children’s Services.
Head of Policy, Performance and Communication.
Speaking about the vacancies David Anderson said: “A recruitment process will now be carried out, with these vacant posts being advertised internally and externally. This process will be carried out as quickly as possible, so that the Council has a full compliment of Heads of Service.
“I am confident that applicants for these posts will come forward who have the appropriate skills, enthusiasm and commitment to be valuable Heads of Service.
“As part of my commitment to modernising the Council, I told all existing employees that I would keep them fully updated about operational changes. I have done this, and will continue to do so.
“I would like to thank all the Council employees for their continued commitment and co-operation, and for the way in which they work on behalf of the people of South Ayrshire.
