Ayr Racecourse beats the weather with seven jump race card

AYR Racecourse’s Blue Square Raceday goes ahead tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 10 January) with the seven race card coming under starter’s orders at 12.50pm.
This extra fixture ensures there will be jumps racing in the UK tomorrow, and with almost £70,000 in prize money a total of 77 runners have been attracted to the Craigie track.
There is also the added bonus of an appearance by champion jockey Tony McCoy who has three booked mounts.
The £20,000 Blue Square SP Guarantee Handicap Hurdle at 2.30pm over two miles four furlongs has 12 runners going to post including the Nicky Richards trained pair Middleton Dene with Rose Dobbin riding and Harmony Brig (Brian Harding) while the in form Howard Johnson team have Diamond Frontier (Denis O’ Regan) and Tony McCoy rides Money Order for Brendan Powell.
The Blue Square Handicap Chase at 3.00pm also boasts £20,000 in prize money, and the nine runners could all be in with a chance. Alan Brown’s Malko de Beaumont (Mark Bradburne) is in great form while Jim Goldie saddles course winner Something Silver (Richard McGrath) and the aforementioned Howard Johnson stable has Frankie Figg (Denis O’ Regan).
Channel 4 will be televising five races live – the 2.00pm through to 4.00pm.
The first race on the card is Division One of the Blue Square Novice Hurdle at 12.50pm and the final race is the Ayr Novices Handicap Hurdle at 4.00pm.
