Members of Ayr’s, Fort, Seafield and Wallacetown Community Council had the plaque designed and installed using funding they received from the Council’s previous Civic Pride Fund.
Liz Lambert, the wife of Community Councillor Bob Lambert was the inspiration behind the plaque.
Norman McLean, Chairman Ayr’s, Fort, Seafield and Wallacetown Community Council said: “The plaque depicts a panoramic view of the horizon and indicates the names of the various landmarks visible from that point.
“I would like to thank the Council for their support and two Officers in particular Douglas Hemmings, Acting Roads and Transportation Manager and Andy Shilliday, Procurement Manager who provided outstanding support to the Community Council.”
After unveiling the plaque Provost Sloan said: “The plaque will provide an interesting and useful facility for locals and tourists who use Ayr seafront.
“This plaque is particularly special as it has come to fruition as the result of an idea from the Community Council, which Bob Lambert and others then worked hard to make a reality. I would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to this project.”
