Virtual tour producer pikoDesign gains degree of success at Cambridge

Ayr-based virtual tour company pikoDesign was recently selected to produce virtual tours for Cambridge University, a fantastic opportunity for a local Ayrshire company to work with one of the oldest and most prestigious Universities in the world.

A virtual tour is a 360° panoramic view of a building or other location, which, when placed on a company or other organisation’s website, gives a considerably more realistic and visually interesting illustration than any two-dimensional image could possibly do.

Facing competition from other virtual tour providers from all over the UK, the high quality product and services from pikoDesign were the deciding factor for the team at Cambridge.

Nell Halford is Assistant Manager at West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge University Faculty of Music. She commented: “After looking at various virtual tour companies and other venue websites, we found Piko Design, who have an inviting and easy to understand website and also had produced a virtual tour of a similar nature to what we were looking for (i.e. Glasgow Royal Concert Hall). Seeing this swung our decision to go with Piko Design, along with their reasonable prices and package offer.

“Piko Design provided good and clear communication in advance of the shoot, and we were very happy with their professionalism and with the reliable service we received from them.

“Many clients wanted to see the hall and foyer space in particular. As the majority are based too far away to visit the venue in person, the virtual tour on our website offers a suitable alternative. The images of the rooms are very important for clients as this can make or break a booking. They need to see space, size shape and general appeal and I think the images captured by Piko Design really work in our favour.

“Many clients have viewed the virtual tour on our website, and as a result have confirmed their bookings with us. It also gives current venue hirers and patrons a good idea about our seating layout and what to expect on arrival.

“We are very happy with the overall quality of the images, detail and presentation, and we are very pleased with the result, and I'm sure the faculty will be pleased with the extra bookings to come.”

George King, proprietor of pikoDesign said: “It has been tremendously exciting working with the team at Cambridge University on their virtual tour projects. With Cambridge’s unrivalled reputation and strong brand identity we were aware that expectations would be very high. Building on our reputation for delivering virtual tours of the highest quality, the final result has exceeded all expectations.

“We are very much looking forward to working on further Cambridge University projects throughout the rest of 2011 and beyond.”

pikoDesign is a member of the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle.
