Ayr Racecourse reports very successful Scottish Grand National Festival 2011

By: Iain Ferguson

CROWDS of more than 20,000 descended on Ayr Racecourse recently for a very successful Coral Scottish Grand National Festival.

Decent weather on both days ensured that the Champagne Lawns were full, particularly on Saturday when 15,000 enjoyed the racing and entertainment.

The fun continued both days after racing and the Festival was voted a great success by all.

Ayr Racecourse sales and marketing manager Lindsey Smith said: “All week we were praying for good weather, and our prayers were answered – the rain stayed away, and we got great crowds with hospitality full on the Saturday.

“There were people here from all over the UK, and we had the launch of our annual Ladies Competition on Saturday too, which added to the glamour. We also had Nicola Cassells performing Flower Of Scotland before the big race.

“I believe the 2011 Coral Scottish Grand National will go down as one of the best.”

Ayr Racecourse and the associated Western House Hotel are founder members of the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle.
