Ayrshire outdoor advertising company Posterplus launches new format inflatable billboard

An Ayrshire company has launched an exciting new addition to its product range.

Posterplus is a UK-wide outdoor advertising media company using inflatable billboards, digital advertising and projected screens to enable critical marketing messages to be placed closer to people outdoors than traditional billboards and advertising.

And this week Posterplus launched it’s new Super 6 Sheet inflatable billboard.

Posterplus managing director Gavin Hollywood explained: “The new portable billboard is bespoke to Posterplus and adds to our portfolio of outdoor advertising formats.

“This new Super 6 sheet is double sided, fully mobile and transportable.

“A sealed air value allows the structure to stay fully inflated for weeks.

“Each poster is industry size similar to bus shelter advertising and measures 6ft x4ft, each poster is digitally printed on PVC vinyl.”

The first Posterplus client to take advantage of the new advertising format was bus company Stagecoach Plc, who had a Super 6 Sheet inflatable billboard prominently displayed in Ayr town centre this week promoting Stagecoach’s green credentials and reminding people that, whereas fuel prices have risen again recently, Stagecoach bus fares have been held at their previous levels.

Stagecoach’s local marketing manager is Allan Henry.

He said: “We were delighted to use this innovative new marketing opportunity from Posterplus.

“Our ‘fuel saver’ campaign was aimed at high street shoppers, and it pointed out how convenient and cheap bus travel is, as well as being the environmentally-friendly option.

“The Super 6 Sheet inflatable billboard ticked all the boxes for us, as they can be placed right on the High Street, and are themselves an environmentally-friendly product.”

Posterplus managing director Gavin Hollywood added: “Stagecoach is an existing long-term client of Posterplus and we have carried out numerous campaigns for them across the country.

“We are delighted Stagecoach have supported our new format, and we look forward to working with them during 2011 on other media projects.

“Posterplus is now offering these new unique units for sale or rental and along with our core media formats for larger campaigns.

“With over 4000 sites available across the UK and a dedicated website called our company can create high impact local, regional and national advertising.”

Posterplus current clients include Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Sky, Nike, RBS, Debenham’s and the Scottish Government to name but a few.

Posterplus started in 2002 and has grown to be the largest ambient media owner in the UK with a portfolio of unique advertising formats.

Posterplus is an Ayrshire business with national coverage and previous winners of the National Business Awards & Scottish Enterprise Business Achievement.

The new Super 6 Sheet is part of the company’s continued expansion and March will see another new product being launched called the Tower, which will be the largest inflatable advertising unit of it’s kind in the UK.

Owen Kerr signs up Scottish Parliament

Ayr-based firm Owen Kerr Signs have successfully completed a commission from the Scottish Parliament to provide signage for the various Committee Rooms in the building.

Proprietor Owen Kerr explains: “Last year we were contacted by the Scottish Parliament and invited to design and manufacture a series of signs depicting famous Scots including Robert Burns, Alexander Fleming, David Livingstone, Mary Fairfax Somerville, James Clerk Maxwell and Adam Smith.

“A representative of the Parliament had noticed similar signs supplied by ourselves whilst on a visit to Goodrich in Prestwick.

“The initial designs were produced in May and following a few revisions and amendments the finished signs were supplied in November.”

Constructed from oak, polished acrylic and stainless steel, the signs are in place to identify Committee Rooms within the Parliament building.

The signs have an image of each famous Scot and a short biography in both English and Gaelic.

Member of the Scottish Parliament for Ayr, John Scott commented: “I am delighted to offer Own Kerr Signs my congratulations on securing and completing this contract.

“It is highly appropriate, since the Parliament’s principal Committee Room has been named the Burns Room, that this work should have been undertaken by an Ayr company.

“I’m particularly glad, having made the suggestion to the parliamentary authorities that a room be named after Robert Burns when this was consulted on over a year ago.”

Owen Kerr Signs have also recently achieved accession to full membership of the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle.

Norman Geddes is senior partner at Ayr-based Frazer Coogans Commercial Solicitors and executive chairman of the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle. He commented: “We would like to welcome Owen Kerr Signs to full membership of the Circle, and to congratulate them on winning and successfully completing this prestigious commission from the Scottish Parliament.

“Many of our other members also report a successful start to 2011, and this must augur well for the rest of the year.

“The Elite Ayrshire Business Circle will continue to do all it can to promote our individual members and the Ayrshire economy as a whole.”

Virtual tour producer pikoDesign gains degree of success at Cambridge

Ayr-based virtual tour company pikoDesign was recently selected to produce virtual tours for Cambridge University, a fantastic opportunity for a local Ayrshire company to work with one of the oldest and most prestigious Universities in the world.

A virtual tour is a 360° panoramic view of a building or other location, which, when placed on a company or other organisation’s website, gives a considerably more realistic and visually interesting illustration than any two-dimensional image could possibly do.

Facing competition from other virtual tour providers from all over the UK, the high quality product and services from pikoDesign were the deciding factor for the team at Cambridge.

Nell Halford is Assistant Manager at West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge University Faculty of Music. She commented: “After looking at various virtual tour companies and other venue websites, we found Piko Design, who have an inviting and easy to understand website and also had produced a virtual tour of a similar nature to what we were looking for (i.e. Glasgow Royal Concert Hall). Seeing this swung our decision to go with Piko Design, along with their reasonable prices and package offer.

“Piko Design provided good and clear communication in advance of the shoot, and we were very happy with their professionalism and with the reliable service we received from them.

“Many clients wanted to see the hall and foyer space in particular. As the majority are based too far away to visit the venue in person, the virtual tour on our website offers a suitable alternative. The images of the rooms are very important for clients as this can make or break a booking. They need to see space, size shape and general appeal and I think the images captured by Piko Design really work in our favour.

“Many clients have viewed the virtual tour on our website, and as a result have confirmed their bookings with us. It also gives current venue hirers and patrons a good idea about our seating layout and what to expect on arrival.

“We are very happy with the overall quality of the images, detail and presentation, and we are very pleased with the result, and I'm sure the faculty will be pleased with the extra bookings to come.”

George King, proprietor of pikoDesign said: “It has been tremendously exciting working with the team at Cambridge University on their virtual tour projects. With Cambridge’s unrivalled reputation and strong brand identity we were aware that expectations would be very high. Building on our reputation for delivering virtual tours of the highest quality, the final result has exceeded all expectations.

“We are very much looking forward to working on further Cambridge University projects throughout the rest of 2011 and beyond.”
