Ayr Racecourse to host Valentine’s Day race meeting

AYR Racecourse hosts its Valentine’s Raceday next Tuesday 12 February with seven races scheduled and  some decent prize money on offer for a midweek meeting.

The feature race of the day is the Play Casino Anywhere With BetVictor Handicap Chase over two and a half miles due off at 4.30pm, and the £12,000 prize pot should ensure a healthy number of runners with several top northern based trainers likely to target this for some of their better handicappers.
Rising stars of the saddle will be seen in action in the Follow Us On Twitter At BetVictor Racing Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle at 3pm, and the final action of the day comes in the Talk To Victor Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 5pm. The first race is due off at 1.50pm with gates open at 11.50am.
The more senior jockeys likely to be in action at the course on Tuesday include Jason Maguire, currently second in the jockeys championship, Denis O’Regan, Peter Buchanan and Brian Harding.
Ayr Racecourse’s sales and marketing manager Lindsey Smith commented: “There should be some good racing on Tuesday and hopefully some big fields. We look forward to welcoming an enthusiastic crowd.”
Monday’s fixture at Ayr was lost after the track became waterlogged following a staggering three inches of rainfall in a week at the track.
Clerk of the Course Emma Marley took the decision after walking the track on Sunday morning and  commented: “The course is currently waterlogged, and with further significant rain and strong to gale force winds forecast through to Monday there is unlikely to be any improvement.”
