Ayr Racecourse offers top racing, entertainment and glamour at William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival

IT’S the biggest and richest flat racing extravaganza in Scotland and the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival at Ayr Racecourse comes to town on Thursday 19 September until Saturday 21 September.

Crowds of more than 20,000 will flock to the course to enjoy some top quality racing, superb entertainment and lots of glamour.
Friday is William Hill Ayr Gold Cup Festival Ladies Day when up to 27 finalists who have been awarded a coin will draw the name of a horse running in the William Hill Ayr Bronze Cup.
The lady who draws the winning horse lands a Vauxhall Adam Jam 1.4 courtesy of Kerr & Smith, second prize is a Fred Olsen 10 night Fjords, Mountains and Glaciers Cruise sponsored by Stewart Travel and third prize laser treatments by The Coast Clinic, Ayr.
And ladies can still qualify for the final - the final few bronze coins for Best Dressed Ladies will be awarded by judges on both Thursday and Friday.
There are 22 competitive races over the three days culminating in the richest sprint handicap in Europe – the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup due off at 3.50pm on the Saturday.
That race carries £155,000 in prize money and over the entire Festival a staggering £587,000 in prize money - up £150,900 from last year is up for grabs.
Other big races over the three days at Ayr include the William Hill – Bet On The Move Doonside Cup, a Listed Race and the William Hill – In the App Store Firth Of Clyde Stakes which carry prize funds of £60,000 each and these are run on Saturday along with the £50,000 William Hill Ayr Silver Cup.
The William Hill Ayr Bronze Cup is raced for on the Friday and carries a fund of £35,000 (£25,000).
And after racing on all three days there is superb entertainment with live bands performing in the Horseshoe Bar on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and in addition a disco playing in the Ayrshire Suite on the Friday and Saturday.
