That meant she had won the star prize – a superb Vauxhall Adam courtesy of Kerr & Smith, long standing sponsors of the day.
And a delighted Lorraine couldn’t contain her delight as she screamed with joy when the result came through.
She said: ”When I picked the horse from the hat I thought it had no chance as someone said it had run the day before which it had but it really tried hard and just won I was so nervous waiting for the result. I have been in the final before but my horse has never been placed.
“When I discovered it had won I was a quivering wreck but oh so happy, it’s a lovely car and a superb prize to win.”
Jim Smith of Kerr & Smith and star guest Robbie Savage presented the car to a very happy Lorraine. Second prize of a Fred Olsen cruise courtesy of Stewart Travel went to Jenna McCrossan of Ayr and Nicola Russell, also of Ayr won a treatments package from Coast Clinic.
More than 5,100 people attended Ladies Day and Ayr Racecourse Sales and Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith commented: “All in all we had a very successful Ladies Day and an excellent Festival as a whole.
“The event is just so glamorous now and very much a social occasion as well as a great sporting event – we were delighted with the crowds and there was a real feel good factor to the meeting.”
