By: Iain Ferguson
IRVINE born jockey Danny Tudhope celebrated the start of the 2014 flat season at Ayr on Sunday by riding a double.
He won the opening race, the Download The Free freebets.co.uk maiden stakes on Watchable, the 9/4 second favourite. He cruised his mount into contention and led over a furlong out going on to win by three and a half lengths from 2/5 favourite Galvanise.
David O’Meara trained both Watchable and Danny’s second winner Patrona Ciana (15/8 fav) (pictured above) which landed the Casino Bonuses At bonus.co.uk Handicap.
Jim Goldie ran no fewer than eight horses in the Exclusive Free Bets at freebets.co.uk Handicap over six furlongs but had to be content with third, fourth and fifth spot with the well gambled on Irish raider Dashwood winning at 3/1.
Megaleka (100/30 fav) also landed a touch in the five furlong handicap for trainer Alan Bailey and jockey Tim Clark beating Jim Goldie’s Rothesay Chancer by three lengths.
Goldie did have a winner when A Southside Boy came with a late run under Graham Lee to beat Vicky Valentine by a head in the one mile five furlong finale.
Ayr’s next meeting is the two-day May meeting featuring the Spring Raceday on Wednesday 21 May and the Wallaces TCB Raceday on Thursday 22 May.
