Yvie Burnett to perform Caledonia at Coral Scottish Grand National
By: Iain Ferguson
Mezzo-soprano and X Factor voice coach Yvie Burnett is to sing Caledonia at the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival at Ayr Racecourse in April.
Yvie (pictured above), who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Leona Lewis and Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, will perform the song during the afternoon before the big race on Saturday 16 April.
Ayr Racecourse managing director David Brown said: “The Coral Scottish Grand National is an iconic sporting occasion and we felt it would be fitting to have such a well- known Scottish singer as Yvie perform a song that has become somewhat of an unofficial national anthem for Scotland.
“It will be a very stirring and poignant way to launch the race on the day and I’m sure it will encapsulate the importance of this race which is the biggest horse race in Scotland.”
In addition to the X Factor Yvie, who is from Aberdeen, has also coached on Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent and The Voice as well as working with Andrew Lloyd–Webber on Love Never Dies, the follow up to Phantom Of The Opera.
