The Belleisle championship course, designed by James Braid in 1927, is one of the most popular golf courses in Scotland, viewed by many as one of the best public inland courses in the country.
South Ayrshire Council has approved an application which will allow the clubhouse to operate as a family-orientated licenced premises with capacity for 180 people. This is the final permission required for the project and means that bar meals, receptions, televised sports, as well as outdoor events, can all now be catered for.
Councillor Bill Grant, Economic Development, Tourism & Leisure portfolio holder for South Ayrshire Council said, “I’m excited to see the project in its final stages and look forward to the opening of this long awaited and much needed facility.
“With the course having an established reputation as one of the best in Scotland, the new clubhouse really raises the bar in terms of the facilities on offer.
“By investing in Belleisle we aim to make the clubhouse a sustainable business and I’m confident the public will embrace the new building when they see it for themselves.
“May I also thank the patience of our loyal golfers, visitors and locals as well as the staff for their patience but the results will be worth the wait.”
The new clubhouse will bring off-course facilities in line with the quality of the course itself. It will be available to golfers playing both Belleisle, its sister course ‘Seafield’, as well as visitors to the wider Belleisle Park Estate.
Wider clubhouse facilities include:
• Modern changing accommodation
• A new golf professional shop
• A large modern café/ bar
• New starter facilities
• Club rooms
• Lounge area
• Golf simulator room
